Thornhill's Disputes team successfully defended the founders of a technology company against a high-value shareholder claim brought in connection with the company's prior fundraising rounds. The claimant alleged that the founders had made misleading representations to investors at the time of a Series C fundraise, and sought substantial damages as a result.

The matter proceeded to a multi-week trial, during which Thornhill's team called a number of expert and factual witnesses to establish the commercial context surrounding the disputed representations. The tribunal ultimately found in favour of the founders on every count raised by the claimant.

Charlotte Okafor, who led the defence, said: "Claims of this kind can hang over a business and its founders for years if they aren't resolved decisively. We're pleased this matter reached a clear and complete conclusion at trial, rather than being left unresolved."
